Five Stops Down the Decision Path

In a few weeks I'm launching a new site, The Introverted Believer and I hope you'll follow me over to the new site.

My writing, and therefore your blog experience, has felt a little like a pinball - zipping and zapping every which way, heading off in one direction scoring bonus points and other times casually making its way down the center, touching nothing in particular.

I have to admit, I've got this ball of gunk forming in my stomach about it. Why? Because this is my second "relaunch."

When I first started blogging, I launched a site called The First Breath. Then my web host's server went down and the only way to guarantee it would come back up in any reasonable amount of time was to upgrade. So I canceled my plan and started using a different site builder and host. That's when Kass Fogle was born.

A year and two months and listening and reading a LOT of wise counsel, I am once again narrowing my focus. Since I'm an extreme Introvert with built in social anxiety, but a Sociologist by trade and interest, I decided to do what I know.

Being an introvert trying to relate to other introverts will be a social experiment itself, but what I am truly excited about is showing other introverts their unique God-given gifts and how to use them to further God's kingdom.

YOU'RE INVITED!

On my new site, I will invite people into my 'living room' to discuss MARRIAGE, invite them into 'my office' to talk about LEADERSHIP and I will invite them into my 'kitchen' to chat about FRIENDSHIP. And I will continue to pray, as I do with each blog or article, that the information I share entices and encourages at least one person to pick up their bible to fact check me, dive deeper or simply read a verse for the first time.

This decision - to change gears and even focus on non-fiction writing for a while - has been a major change. I could not and would not have made the decision alone or without wisdom. Here are the stops I made along my decision path and I hope they encourage you as well:

1) Pray - Lord, I pray this idea that won't leave me alone is from you and not an evil distraction in sheep's clothing or a plot of my own making to build up my pride.

2) Search his Truths - I always check in with my life verse, James 3:17. It is my litmus test to ensure my intentions, words and actions follow these parameters.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere

3) Check in with the tribe - my husband is my biggest supporter. Switching directions and starting a new venture will take time and energy. He and I think and process information very differently so listening and taking his counsel is of supreme importance to me. Not just to honor him but to be obedient to God. I also checked in my best friends. They are also my biggest supporters and provide me with constant encouragement and ideas. Proverbs 19:20 -

Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter days.

Part of my tribe includes Platinum Literary. Bethany Jett and Michelle Medlock Adams were instrumental in affirming good ideas and redirecting the clunky ones. The hour spent with them was one of the most productive of my writing career. Their faith and hearts for Jesus filled my soul.

4) Let time pass - I have no patience. Once I've made a decision, I'm ready to pounce and any time in between is considered inefficient and wasted. I really have to be intentional about resting in his presence and letting newfound knowledge and instruction work its holy power within me. Proverbs 19:2 -

Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge,And he sins who hastens with his feet.

5) Move forward with confidence - Once I have prayed over the pros and cons lists, I've read the bible and meditated in patience over its instruction and I've sought wise counsel from my tribe, I can move forward in confidence, knowing that he who began a good work in me, will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). I know that if I stray off the path, he will work in me to correct it.

I hope you will join me on my new site. Stay tuned for more information - we're going to have a lot of fun. But don't worry, I'm not going to make you form groups or do team building exercises.

Get in on the action early - subscribe to my email list by entering your information in the footer of this page (mobile users may need to use the Reader View) and be the first to see the new launched site!
